Paroex is non-flammable. At high concentrations Paroex is harmful, however at the low concentrations typically used for oral rinses and skin cleaners it can be safely used. In spite of the relatively non-toxic profile of Paroex, there have been incidences of anaphylactic reactions.
About this Recall: Sunstar Americas, Inc. (SAI) is voluntarily recalling Paroex Chlorhexidine Gluconate Oral Rinse USP, 0.12%.
Recommended use is twice daily, oral rinsing for 30 seconds, morning and evening after toothbrushing. Usual dosage is 15 mL ( FL OZ) of undiluted Paroex . Patients should be instructed not to rinse with water, or other mouthwashes, brush teeth, or eat immediately after using Paroex .
